Using Geriatric Care Managers

If you want to age in place, but you’re not sure where to begin, consider hiring a geriatric care manager.

Geriatric care managers have training in gerontology, social work, nursing or counseling, which enables them to play a critical role helping you resolve long-term care needs.

They conduct care-planning assessments to identify potential problems, eligibility for certain types of assistance, and need for services; review financial, legal, or medical issues; crisis intervention; acting as a liaison between parents and children who live in different parts of the country; and counseling and support.
