Mission Statement:

To design home modifications to fit each client’s specific goals and needs by creating functional living spaces that are accessible, welcoming and cost-effective to promote a safe and meaningful lifestyle.

Who is an Occupational Therapist?

A medical professional who teaches clients compensatory techniques and use of assistive devices to aid in performing Activities of Daily Living (ADL) as safely and independently as possible. OTs help clients learn to offset the effects of disease, injury and aging on their daily lives.

Why are OTs ideal to make home modifications?

OTs with additional education in home modifications can identify beneficial adaptations to the home environment that match specific functional needs of the client. This training includes understanding home construction in order to develop solutions for renovations and designs, as well as to ensure productive collaboration with builders and remodelers.

OT Accessibility provides:

  • Written list of customized modifications tailored to the client’s current and future needs.
  • Resources for accessible products and assistive devices.
  • Referrals to and coordination with accessible remodelers and builders.
  • Follow-up during and/or after modifications are completed.
